Once a notetaking request submitted to Aggie Access is fulfilled, an email is sent to the student advising them that a peer notetaker has been set up and that notes will be available for download on Aggie Access. If a student finds that they need notes in a class of this type, they should contact their DRC Accessibility Consultant. Many instructors provide PowerPoint slides, outlines, and/or recordings that may fulfill the need for lecture notes.Īfter determining the classes for which notes are needed, the student should log onto Aggie Access and follow the process to request accommodations.īe aware that notetaking is not generally provided in online classes, entry level English classes, P.E. Students should first consider each of their classes to assess what resources are provided in class and on Canvas. Requests to the DRC for Notetaking should be made as soon as the student is aware of the need. If at any time the student would like to have a DRC-coordinated notetaker, they should request the Notetaking accommodation through Aggie Access. This includes class attendance, quality of notes, and delivery of notes to the student. Supervision of the notetaker is the responsibility of the student. Notetakers arranged for in this manner are still eligible for stipends if they register with the DRC. Carbonless lined paper is also available from the DRC. Students may ask a friend or classmate to take notes and use a phone to “scan” the classmate’s notes after each class. Students approved for Notetaking are eligible for peer notes and may set up a peer notetaker themselves or have the DRC set up Notetaking by requesting the accommodation in Aggie Access. Students who do not feel they have access to notes independently may request Notetaking services from their Accessibility Consultant.
